Otherwise Engaged

Updated: Oct 21, 2020

This was the perfect combination of romance and humor! Rebecca is not your typical Regency era woman- daring and courageous, and doesn’t follow all of society’s rules for women. Nicholas is not a typical Regency era gentleman- a bit rough around the edges having lived most of his life at sea. The two are a match made in heaven, except their lives are headed in two different directions.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this world. Rebecca reminded me of Elizabeth Bennett- independent, forward thinking. It was interesting to see the Regency world through her eyes. Although some of her actions seemed frustrating at times, I thought she completely redeems herself in the end. She's a great character with realistic flaws, while still endearing. You find yourself rooting for her. Nicholas was quite dreamy, I must admit. He always has the right thing to say, and I loved watching him grow and embrace his new role in life. The two main characters were written very well- both with good development and growth and very lovable. The way Nicholas embraces and celebrates Rebecca’s quirks is so heartwarming. I loved the way they find each other in the end. I highly recommend!
