If you are in the mood for a good suspense book-something that gets your heart racing and unable to put the book down- this is one of those books! There’s even a fair bit of romance in it for those of you who can’t do without.
It’s a dual timeline story- partially taking place during WWII and partially during present day. In an effort to avoid being forced to work with the Nazis, Leopold Lang develops a plan for his family to escape to safety and save their estate. When things don't go according to plan, his children must find a way to keep each other safe.
Fast forward to present day, and the descendants of the Lang siblings are drawn together to solve a mystery. Can they win their inheritance back? Who can they trust? Eighty years later, is the Lang family still in danger?
4 amazing authors contributed to this book, and they weave together seamlessly. It’s full of mysteries to solve. Each author brought a unique voice to their characters, but the quality of the writing was the same the whole way through. I loved the way each of the characters came together, and the way we learned more about their ancestors through their discoveries. It was suspenseful, with a few twists I didn’t expect. I’d love to know more of these characters, both past and present! There are still so many things I want to know about their lives.
This is definitely one of my favorite reads of the year. I still think about the story even though I finished the book weeks ago. I recommend this one! Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
